Community Facilities Advisory Committee Begins Review

See video recording - A community Facilities Advisory Committee will meet monthly from February 2025 through fall 2025 to develop recommendations to the Board of Education for a long-term district master facilities plan. The Board sought volunteers and 45 residents offered to serve. The first meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 and the committee will meet monthly, with a goal of delivering recommendations to the Board next fall.

Vote April 1 - Critical Maintenance Referendum

The MPSD Board of Education has placed a $25 million critical maintenance, building infrastructure, safety and security referendum on the April 1, 2025 ballot. District residents will vote on whether to allow MPSD to borrow up to $25 million to fund critical buildings and grounds needs, including many common projects across schools district-wide such as: Student pick-up, traffic and pedestrian safety improvements Electrical main services, emergency generators and fire alarm upgrades LED lighting and security cameras HVAC and plumbing systems Exterior tuckpointing, windows, roofs, doors, ceilings and floors Asphalt parking and concrete sidewalk repairs ADA - elevators, ramps and bathrooms

Reading Gains Continue in 4th Quarter

Our fourth-quarter reading results are in and all six MPSD elementary schools made continued gains in the number of students reading at their grade level or above! Our two middle schools had a decline in reading scores in the fourth quarter, which caused a slight dip in our districtwide score; however, the middle school scores are double-digits higher than the start of the school year.

Three Consecutive Quarters of Reading Gains - MPSD Seeing Results

Great news! Our third-quarter reading results are in and we are seeing continued gains in the number of students reading at their grade level or above. District-wide, reading scores were up 18 percentage points, with 49% of students proficient/reading at grade level in the third quarter, compared to 31% at the start of the school year.
