Safety

Safety

Safety is our number one priority. The District has a comprehensive crisis plan established to prepare for any safety concerns.  Administrators meet regularly with law enforcement officials to continuously evolve and update these plans to ensure a safe learning environment.  Below are some of the improvements you may have recently noticed that were possible through a State Department of Justice grant:

  • Building entrances at Riverview, Stangel, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe were redesigned to create a single point of entry for campus visitors. The visitor entrances now direct visitors to the main office where they check in if necessary.

  • All MPSD school entrances now have the Raptor Visitor Management System which tracks visitors, contractors and volunteers in our schools and provides a more secure environment for students, staff and visitors. Visitors coming to the school will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID for scanning.

  • Implementation of the K12 Standard Response Protocol (SRP) from https://iloveuguys.org/.

  • Take a moment to see for yourself how effective this SRP can be in saving  lives by viewing this video about the I Love You Guys safety response protocol.
