Transitional Kindergarten for 5-Year-Olds
MPSD also will be offering a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program in 2024-2025 for children who will be 5 on or before September 1st, 2024. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the gift of time for students that are not developmentally ready for Kindergarten… yet.
Your child may be recommended for Transitional Kindergarten if he/she:

Did not successfully complete a full year of 4K

Is recommended for TK by a 4K teacher

Turns five between March 1st - September 1st
In Transitional Kindergarten students will learn essential literacy, math, and self regulation skills in a play-based environment. At the end of the Transitional Kindergarten year, students will be recommended for either Kindergarten or Grade One based on their readiness.
