
James Feil, joined the MPSD as Interim Superintendent of the Manitowoc Public School District (MPSD) in July 2022 and transitioned to Superintendent of Schools in November.
Feil has more than four decades in education, most recently serving as Superintendent of the Montello School District from 2021 until his hire by MPSD. He served as President of Urban Day School in Milwaukee from 2012 to 2016 and as Superintendent of Traverse City Area Public Schools in Traverse City, Mich., from 2005 to 2010.
He joined Traverse City after serving for five years as Superintendent of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He was an Associate Superintendent of Southfield Public Schools from 1995 to 2000, after serving for 14 years as Assistant Superintendent of Ingham Intermediate School District in Mason, Mich. He also has served in professional and administrative positions in the University of Michigan’s business departments and Institute for Social Research.
Feil has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA from Central Michigan University. He is a doctorate candidate who completed all but his dissertation from the University of Michigan-Flint.
