Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

The MPSD Board of Education approved hiring Jame McCall to fill a newly created position of Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in November 2022 to help oversee efforts to improve student achievement and provide more resources to support students and teachers in the classroom.

McCall retired in 2020 from Traverse Area Public Schools after serving more than 30 years there, including the last six as Associate Superintendent of Student Services. She spent seven years as an elementary teacher and reading and math specialist before serving as principal of two elementary schools in the district from 1994 to 2007. She served as Executive Director of Special Education, Elementary Education and Early Childhood from 2007 to 2012 before becoming Executive Director of Student Services and then Associate Superintendent.


McCall has a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University and Masters of Arts from Central Michigan University. She also has post-graduate hours at Grand Valley State University in general and special education law, finance, organizational management and district leadership.
