The Boys’ and Girls’ High School Cross Country teams are a family of athletes who are dedicated to each other and who work hard each day to achieve their goals. We pride ourselves on not only developing runners but developing people into confident, goal-oriented, and supportive teammates who carry their lessons and experiences from our sport into all aspects of their life.
We have a Varsity and JV boys’ and girls’ team. Varsity consists of the 7 fastest runners each week (typically based off the prior week’s race). JV has unlimited entries which means everyone has the opportunity to race each week. Teams and individuals, both, can qualify for the WIAA State Championship Meet at the end of the season.
The high school race course is 5000 meters (just over three miles). Athletes are trained by the coaches based off where each person is individually at. Whether you have never run a mile or you have run 100’s of miles you will be given the same attention from the coaching staff to help you be able to confidently run in a race and work towards your goals and the team goals.
The high school season runs from the middle of August through the end of October. We have a signup meeting in May each year, and individualized off-season training programs are provided to each athlete to follow leading up to the season. We meet to start practice at the JFK fieldhouse and run at numerous locations for practice each day.
Parents and athletes should contact Head Coach Michael Bubolz at mantyshipsCC@gmail.com if interested in learning more.
