Students at Franklin Elementary spent the past month learning how to care for their hearts—and how to help others—through the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge.

Led by Physical Education teacher Paige Cotton, the program brought together movement, learning, and service in a meaningful way.

💡 What is the Kids Heart Challenge?

The Kids Heart Challenge combines physical activity, heart health education, and service learning. Throughout the program, students:

      • Learn how their heart works
      • Practice healthy habits
      • Explore ways to respond in emergencies, including Hands-Only CPR
      • Support lifesaving research through optional fundraising

      ❤️ Making a Real Impact

Franklin students came together as “Heart Heroes,” raising an incredible:

      $5,622

These funds support the American Heart Association’s work in:

      • Heart health research
      • Education and prevention
      • Lifesaving innovations that impact families across the country

While these students earned special recognition, every Franklin student played a role in making this effort a success.

Through the Kids Heart Challenge, students are gaining more than knowledge—they’re building confidence, compassion, and the ability to step up in moments that matter.

At Franklin Elementary, that means learning how to take care of their own hearts while making a difference for others.
