Welcome to Franklin Elementary!
Hello, I’m Matt Heller, and I’m proud to serve as the Principal at Franklin. Originally from Chicago, I moved to Wisconsin to be closer to my parents. I spent ten years teaching and coaching in Chicago before transitioning to school leadership, and I’ve been a principal for the past eleven years. I’ve had the privilege of working at Green Bay East High School and Nicolet Elementary, but after hearing such great things about the Manitowoc Public School District, I knew this was where I wanted to be.
I hold both a master’s and a doctoral degree in education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a lifelong learner, I believe everyone—whether they’re pre-K students or adults—has the ability to learn and grow. At Franklin, every decision I make will be focused on what’s best for student learning and the needs of our community. I welcome parent input and involvement, so please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone, email, or drop by my office anytime.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, music, and watching soccer. My wife and I have two sons, and we’re excited for a fantastic school year. I look forward to meeting everyone in the Franklin community!
