Since 1953, Franklin Elementary has been a place where students are encouraged to learn, belong, and discover their potential.

Welcome to Franklin Elementary School! For more than 70 years, Franklin has been a place where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and discover their potential. Today, Franklin serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade as part of the Manitowoc Public School District.

While generations of students proudly called themselves Falcons, Franklin is now part of MPSD's unified Ships family. We honor the traditions that have shaped our school while embracing a shared commitment to excellence, belonging, and student success.

A Legacy Worth Celebrating

Franklin Elementary has served generations of Manitowoc families since opening its doors in 1953.

Though our mascot has transitioned from the Falcons to the Ships, the heart of Franklin has never changed. We continue to honor the traditions, relationships, and school pride that have made Franklin a special place for more than seven decades.

  Franklin families are invited to enjoy a Halloween afternoon at the school’s Trick-or-Treat in
  
  Franklin families are invited to enjoy a Halloween afternoon at the school’s Trick-or-Treat in the Hallway, sponsored by the Franklin PTA. Students can visit the decorated hallways and collect treats on Thursday, October 29, from 4 to 5 p.m.
  
  Students must go home after regular dismissal and return with an adult. Families should enter through the school’s front doors.
  
  The PTA is also collecting unopened treat donations, such as candy, fruit snacks or small trinkets. Donations are due Tuesday, October 27, and will help make the event fun for Franklin students.
  
  We hope to see Franklin families there for an afternoon of Halloween fun!

  Franklin’s Run Club celebrated a strong finish last week, with members logging an impressive
  
  Franklin’s Run Club celebrated a strong finish last week, with members logging an impressive **150 miles together**! Along the way, students practiced working as a team while also challenging themselves to keep going and reach their individual goals.
  
  To mark the end of the club, families were invited to join the runners. Everyone took on a one-mile run together, making the celebration a chance to share the experience with family and cheer one another on.

Keyboarding can help students share their ideas, complete assignments and work more confidently with technology.
  
  Typing takes practice, and students are building their speed and accuracy one key at a time. We’re excited to see their progress as they continue learning and growing their technology skills!
- New Playgrounds Coming to MPSD Elementary Schools
  
  Exciting improvements are on the way for some of our youngest Ships! As part of the Manitowoc Public

  As part of the Manitowoc Public School District's ongoing referendum-funded facility improvements, Franklin Elementary, Monroe Elementary, Stangel Elementary, and Riverview Early Learning Center will each receive new playground equipment.
  
  Each location will feature two new playground areas, one accessible playground and one standard playground, creating updated spaces where students can play, explore, and connect with their classmates.
  
  A First Look
  
  Conceptual renderings from the playground vendor offer families a first look at the equipment planned for each location. The renderings are intended to show the playground structures and general design; the colors pictured are examples and do not represent the final color selections.
  
  These playground improvements are part of the district's continued work following the approval of the $25 million capital referendum in April 2025, which supports critical facility maintenance and infrastructure needs throughout MPSD.
  
  We look forward to watching these spaces take shape and sharing more updates with our families as the projects move forward.
