Amanda Pakala

Associate Principal

My Role

As Associate Principal, I work closely with students, families, and staff to support both academic and behavioral success while helping create a positive and inclusive school environment.

Families are encouraged to contact me regarding:

  • Attendance concerns
  • Student behavior and discipline
  • Academic support, curriculum, and grading
  • Student interventions and support services
  • PBIS and school culture
  • School safety
  • Family communication
  • General questions or concerns

I believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success, and I welcome the opportunity to work with families throughout the school year.

Leadership Philosophy

I believe every student can learn, grow, and succeed when they feel valued, challenged, and supported.

My goal is to help create a positive school community built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to learning. I believe mistakes are opportunities for growth, and I encourage students to learn from challenges while celebrating both big accomplishments and everyday successes.

When students know they belong and believe in their own potential, they are empowered to reach their goals and become confident learners.

About Me

This is my 12th year with the Manitowoc Public School District and my 12th year at Wilson. Before joining the administrative team in 2023, I taught English Language Arts, and I continue to enjoy working alongside students, staff, and families to support student learning and celebrate success.

Outside of school, I'm a proud mom of three elementary-aged children. Our family stays busy keeping up with our golden retriever, two cats, and a full schedule of sports, dance classes, and community activities. Whether at home or at school, I believe in finding joy in the small moments and being fully present with the people around me.

Why Wilson?

Wilson Intermediate School is a place where community comes first. Whether we're celebrating classroom achievements, participating in monthly advisory challenges, or giving back through community service, we believe every student should feel valued, respected, and connected.

As we welcome our first classes of fifth and sixth-grade students, we're excited to build new traditions together while creating a school community where every student feels they belong.

A team of readers from Wilson Middle School has made school history by earning 1st Place in the WEMTA State Battle of the Books Competition.

Congratulations to Braylee Foster, Ava Wetenkamp, Brynn Hampton-Gregory, Greyson Hampton-Gregory, and alternate Alex James for their outstanding achievement.

Wilson Middle School has sponsored a Battle of the Books team for the past seven years, with previous top finishes of 11th and 13th place in 2021. According to program records, this is the first time a Wilson team has taken first place at the state level, making this year’s victory an exciting milestone for the school.

Battle of the Books (BOB) is a statewide reading challenge offered at three levels: elementary (grades 4–6), middle school (grades 6–8), and high school (grades 8–12). Students read a list of 20 books, studying them closely to remember details about plot, characters, themes, and settings. Teams then compete in a statewide online “battle,” answering questions about the books to test their knowledge and teamwork.

The program encourages students to build a love of reading, explore books they may not have chosen on their own, and engage in friendly academic competition with schools across Wisconsin.

Wilson’s team demonstrated impressive dedication, collaboration, and reading expertise to earn the top spot this year.

Congratulations to these students for representing Wilson Middle School and the Manitowoc Public School District with pride!
