Jackson Elementary to Host Legacy Celebration
Earlier this year, the Manitowoc Public School District announced that Jackson Elementary School will close at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. For generations of Manitowoc families, Jackson has been more than just a school; it has been a neighborhood gathering place where students began their educational journey, friendships were formed, and lasting memories were made.
To honor Jackson’s many years of serving students and families, the school will host a Legacy Celebration, providing an opportunity for the community to reconnect, reflect on shared memories, and celebrate the lasting impact Jackson has had on so many lives.

Event Details
Date/Time: Saturday, May 3, 2026 • 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Location: Jackson Elementary School
Who’s invited: Open to the community - alumni, families, former and current students and staff
Schedule
1:00–4:00 p.m. | Open House
- Walk the halls, revisit classrooms, and reconnect with friends and former staff.
- Explore displays of photos, artifacts, and memories from Jackson’s history.
- Pick up a memory book (while supplies last)
2:00 p.m. | Program & Presentation
- The program begins at 2:00 p.m. in the gym

Help Us Celebrate Jackson’s Legacy
Students, families, staff, and alumni are invited to share stories, photos, or special memories from their time at Jackson. Submissions may be featured in a Jackson Memory Book, which will be available to guests at the Legacy Celebration (complimentary, while supplies last).
We are also welcoming Jackson-related memorabilia, such as old photos, yearbooks, or items connected to school traditions. These pieces may be displayed during the celebration to help tell the story of Jackson and the community that has grown around it over the years.
By sharing your memories, you’ll help capture the moments and experiences that made Jackson a special place for so many.
Memory Submission Options
You can submit:
- A favorite memory (1–3 paragraphs)
- A photo (with a caption + year if possible)
- A scanned item (program, newsletter, class photo, etc.)
- Memorabilia (yearbooks, artwork, team or club items, event programs, keepsakes, and more)
Memorabilia Drop-Off: Items can be dropped off at Jackson Elementary School’s main office during regular school hours.
If you would like your items returned, please indicate that at the time of drop-off.

Celebrate Jackson’s legacy with a Jackson Legacy Celebration t-shirt. Shirts are available for online purchase only and will be shipped directly to your home. It’s a great way for students, staff, families, and alumni to celebrate Jackson’s history and keep a piece of the school’s legacy.
