Reservation Request - Non-Manitowoc Public School District

The Rahr School Forest is a community facility for all to enjoy.  Buildings can be rented by organized groups.  Trails are open to the public during daylight hours. 

RENTAL GROUPS

Once you have a date(s) in mind, contact School Forest Secretary Jodi Popp at 920-686-4777 or [email protected] to check availability.  If the dates are available submit the following:

  1. Reservation Request
  2. Rental Agreement
  3. Copy of Certificate of Insurance (Boy and Girl Scout groups have a certificate on file)
  4. Copy of First Aid and CPR cards of certified adult who will be staying with your group at the School Forest.  We are mandated by the Manitowoc County Health Department to keep First Aid and CPR cards on file. Dates will not be held until all documents have been received. Follow the links below to the Reservation Request and Rental Agreement forms.

PLANNING YOUR STAY

Before your visit

  • Make sure to carefully read all of the items in the Rental Agreement.  Some items are required of us by the Manitowoc County Health Department to keep our recreational camp license.
  • If you are a Manitowoc scout troop, it is requested that your group complete a service project to help the School Forest. Contact the School Forest Coordinator for more information (920-686-4745, [email protected]
  • Pick up school forest keys from Central Office, 2902 Lindbergh Drive.  

What to bring

  • No linens or pillows are provided, you must bring all your own bedding.
  • The water is safe to drink, but many people do not think it tastes good. Many groups bring drinking water.

When you arrive

  • The key will open the building you have reserved. Make sure your adults know where the key is kept. Lock the building if no one is present at the buildings. Trails are open to the public, but buildings are not. 
  • Each building has a posted "facility use guide;" please read it thoroughly. 
  • If you have any issues, please call. There are phone numbers posted by all the phones for the School Forest Coordinator and the Director of Buildings and Grounds. 

Trail rules and etiquette

  • Respect nature
  • No weapons or hunting
  • No alcoholic beverages or drugs
  • No smoking or fires on trails
  • No swimming
  • No farm animals (horses, llamas, sheep etc.)
  • Dogs must be on leash
  • No motorized vehicles
  • Stay on trails

Departure

  • Garbage must be picked up (outside, inside, near fire pit)
  • Garbage bags must be closed and put into the dumpster
  • Clean the buildings so you are not charged a custodial fee
  • All lights must be turned off
  • Heat must be turned down to 50 degrees
  • All kitchen equipment and faucets must be turned off (kitchen supplies/dishes put away in proper order)
  • Take home all leftover food
  • All exterior doors must be closed tightly and locked
  • All windows must be closed tightly and locked
  • Check fireplaces to make certain all fire is out and dampers are closed
  • Used kitchen towels and rags must be taken home, washed, folded and returned with the school forest key shortly after rental, if you are unable to do this please bring your own rags or alert the School Forest Coordinator.
  • The driveway gate must be closed
  • This list is also in the rental agreement and posted at the school forest in the Ehlert Lodge.
  • Return school forest keys to Central Office, 2902 Lindbergh Drive.
